RIP Ryan Freel

PostSun Dec 23, 2012 4:22 pm

I remember those mid 2000 cards...very coveted, lots of positions, great basestealer, if you could only avoid the injury rolls. very insightful piece to a comet of a player who flamed out, and unfortunetly, now we know, "whatever happened to Ryan Freel."

Great article.

Being Canadian, I am a big fan of hockey and the NHL. The NHL had a really tough summer last year as 3 NHL players took their lives. Professional sports certainly doesn't have any "exemptions" for mental illness, and sometimes it's just that much harder for such people.

RIP Ryan Freel. Let's hope that the treatments for mental illnesses keep up with advances in other medical sciences. It sure seems like there is a big need for that kind of help.
