RH specialist recommendations for 140 mil

Putting together a future 140 mil team. Been doing mostly 200 mil cap teams last few years and trying to be different.

Have not yet decided what park to go in. But probably will be high singles so I can maximize planned speedsters on offense.

What are some good recommendations for a budget RH specialist at this cap level. I am planning on going with at least 2 RH specialists, maybe even 3 if I can identify and draft them.

In addition to names would be interested in hearing philosophy on subject. At 140 mil cap level what would you consider the cutoff salary wise for pitchers to fit in budget categorey for specialist relievers?

For example going all the way to .50 and 9R there is Doug Bair. But using him one would be asking to get shelled. There is a difference between budget and cheap. Dollar wise in general how much would you normally spend to cross that line from being cheap to being budget?

Although he is under a buck (.92) I've seen Mark Clear do well at 140; I've just finished the regular season in a league that had a team use him and he's got a sub 4 ERA and solid stats overall. I know I've seen Clear do well in other leagues at that cap; in fact, I've found him somewhat hard to get in the autodraft in the 100-140 salary range, so people seem to be selecting him rather early.

On the other hand, on my 140 teams - even the playoff squads - the sub 1.5 mil specialists overall seem to get drubbed, so I've not discovered any other lower cost gems for that role.

Thanks harryc. Clear has an interesting card. Had not considered him yet because I tend to focus on R1 and R2 for specialists. But suppose compromising on R rating is better than compromising on quality of card.

The 1.5 mil cutoff sounds pretty reasonable for a lower end of budget category. How much higher would you tend to consider a guy still a budget pitcher for the role.

Might as well extend the conversation to LH specialists in 140 mil as well.

Those HRs on the left side scare me on Pina. Not sure I trust HAL to sufficiently limit him to RH hitters.

I like to have a deep bullpen, in a >$100 million league.
ie. 2 hard RH's and 2 hard LH's.(Along with my set up & closer)

If ya go that route, HAL does a decent job limiting who your RP's face.

That 6 man model for bullpen is what I am thinking of doing. Thinking that with the numbers and HAL uses them close to right might be able to do well even with budget guys.

That six man model does look intriguing. It would, among other things, largely alleviate the scenario where your one specialist does the job for you, but HAL inserts him in the 6th or 7th inning; you are then left without the matchup you want when in the 9th inning you are facing a dangerous hitter.

I'm curious as to the amount of salary this approach would generally consume; it would seem that at 140 mil it could approach 10% of your budget, assuming one spends at the high end for a closer and a set-up man.

I have had a fair amount of success with Hal Reniff (1961) at .89M. Obviously he does have a lot of walks but at least not too many extra base hits v RH. Tom Niedenfuer (1982) at 1.03M and Daryl Patterson (1968) at 1.26M also have had moderate success most of the time.
