LMB and allstarinc pegged the answer to katzenjammer's question while I was out - thanks.

Rick Smith does need to declare which Boog Powell he is using ('64 or '66). There is only one Buford year, but again, I would appreciate if everyne would state a card year when they draft.

I think kenhutchings was just trying to be straight forward in stating that he might switch down the line, but anyone can switch at any time prior to opening day, by posting to that effect. In fact, I have no problem with an owner making card change after opening day, subject to the penalties in place at the time. When you draft a player you own exclusive access to all of his cards in this set for the duration of the season. The only limits are that every card used must fall between and including 1960-1969 and you must be below the salary cap at all times (including the draft, which must account for all 25 roster spots). If you want to carry 24 after the draft and use that money to make some free agency moves, go ahead.

And I agree this is/was not a big deal, but still good to have it well defined!

I know in the bigger picture, the bigger scheme of things, none of this game is a big deal.......to most of us. I've had an experience in the past here on strat where the rules weren't spelled out and I went along on my merry way assuming this and that was OK because I had seen it done in other leagues.

Well, the crap hit the fan, and it was as if I had robbed Mother Hubbard's Cupboard in the middle of a Lenten fast!!! So when I'm not clear on any of the procedures or possible scenarios, I ask questions until I get absolute clarity on the subject.

No problem, I have been there too. It can be maddening when league rules are not spelled out and I like having a level playing field of understanding. Hope that is the case now.

Rick - so are you drafting '66 Powell? You can just state the year you are drafting, no need to state you may switch down the line, as we all have that option, as discussed above. Thanks.

It is good that we are all on the same page.

On other matters......I already hate my team. :(

And the system will not allow you to switch years on a player once the season has started....right?...or is it after the draft?

You can switch years after the season begins but you still incur the salary drop penalty just like you were picking up any other player. That is after game 1. Between the draft and game 1 you can switch years with no penalty.
