Regan is a great pick-up - suprised he made it this far. RPs are THIN in this grouping!

Rich - I would agree to a live draft like this using almost any player set and league scenario. We could move forward to the 70's, or back to the 50's - just have to scout out the sets and make sure they work numbers-wise. We may have to broaden the year range in any of these scenarios. To me the narrow player sets and inherent trade-offs are precisely what makes this format fun. We could also stick with this set and look at franchise-based options as well (i.e draft franchise groupings - maybe combining two franchises, etc.).

Hopefully we can keep this moving and finish up by next weekend ( a pipe dream perhaps?). I would love to go with 26 rounds and counting me, I believe 4 of us have indicated that preference so far. But that is contingent on us being able to maintain a reasonable pace....

I will send out the updated spreadseet again when round 8 is finished.

I am for doing this in 26 live rounds. Whatever future league ideas you have count me in. Though I would rather go with the 1950's than the 1970's.

With all the big names being drafted, I might only spend 70 million or so, if that's the case can I have a credit towards the next league?

I agree with older eras being most fun. Another big part of the allure of these leagues is that we have a good group of owners here - many of us have played the 1969 game together a lot and we had/have a good community in that regard. It is very nice to be drafting with you all again and to welcome some new names to our group as well!

Rick, I was just looking at my autographed first edition of Ball Four the other day - one of my most prized baseball-related possessions. That was such a nice gesture and will be appreciated always!

George Culver told me once that in 1970 he and Jim Bouton were teammates on the Astros. Ball Four was released that summer, and no ballplayer ever experienced the abuse and ridicule that Bouton got. Culver use to help Bouton open his fan mail, one guy actually sent him a piece of cheese and said, "This is for you, you rat."
