What about doing a draft on the forums? That should be simpler than running it on Diamond Dope. With a very narrow draft set, it's likely that some teams will lose out on most of their autodraft picks -- a live draft will minimize this risk, and allow teams to adjust mid-stream. Plus, it's a lot of fun.

We just couldn't do a live draft or board draft because my group has too many casual players. I'm calling one to help him this afternoon and jayar is calling another. I called another yesterday. They're intimidated just with an autodraft with a few restrictions. That's why it should be easy pickings for you ATG guys. Jayar and I have the most experience but we hardly ever play ATG. I know the few teams I've had have never broken .500.

I agree that board drafts are a lot of fun. Four of us have never even used the forums. One guy is out of commission every other day due to dialysis.

I've been in an ongoing league called the Fast 6 for the last 3 seasons, although the league itself is now entering season 31. It's a good group of managers. We usually draft six picks on these boards with a ten minute time limit for each pick and then autodraft the rest, all in the same evening.

Since at least half of the managers in this theme league are in the Chicago area and they are also the inexperienced players, I'd be willing to have the Chicago area guys come to my home at an agreed time and we could do a Fast 6 style draft on the boards or DD and draft maybe 10 or 12 players, with the non-Chicago area guys being logged into the draft at the agreed same time, since those managers are experienced and don't need any help. That way, John and I can assist the inexperienced players with the computer aspect of the draft and the talent can be more evenly distributed.

I think this is very doable, plus live drafts always have a festive atmosphere.

Katzenjammer, distant St. Louis cousins maybe. In the 60's I rarely got to play Strat (mostly watched my uncles play), but I did play a lot of All-Star baseball (the game with the spinner). Mom got rid of all my All-Star circular player cards, but years later when we emptied her house and basement she had kept a big box full of my old Topps baseball cards and Cardinals memorabilia. Got a great LP of Caray and Buck with highlights of the 67 season, a wonderful 68 pennant clinching souvenier beer stein, some Bravo el birdos buttons and pennants to go along with some autographed photos of Stan The Man, Red Schoendienst and others. The baseball cards are cool, but were pretty worn from lots of handling. I still have them in the same box in my bedroom closet. My wife had some of the stuff (Musial stuff) framed for my guestroom and was able to get another framed and signed pic of Willie Mcgee and Ozzie Smith to hang on the same wall.

Ages ago, my dad shared season tickets that were 9 rows behind the Cardinals dugout (these went for the exorbitant price of $4 according to some old ticket stubs) We got to go to perhaps 6-10 games per year. I remember Bob Gibson (a favorite player of mine) as a mean guy who never signed an autograph at the park, Lou Brock was friendlier, MUSIAL however was the kind of guy who would go out of his way to give an autograph to a kid. Loved that guy.

Sorry, I haven't gotten back to you very fast but I was waiting for input from my buddies. It's a great offer BD but I think we'll just go with the structure we have now. If anyone wants to back out I can certainly understand. I know it was one of my concerns when I put up the first message. My friends just want to keep it simple.

If you are going to leave the league please let me know so we can take you off the list and try to get a replacement.
