Credit to Strat O Matic- Negro League cards

I'm starting a new team and trying to use as many of the Negro League players as I can. After studying plenty of cards, it dawned on me that we should give many thanks to SOM for introducing these cards. It's great to get a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, to play a whole season with these guys.

It comes through that a Barnstorming group of players would have had so much fun. Everybody in the pool!! They play all over the field, everybody steals, huge batting averages, power and speed galore. Lots of errors in the OF, then the strong throwing arms to make up for it. Many great catchers play 1B and OF. Infielders play all over, there are several super utility guys. Then the Superstars... Gibson, Stearns, Charleston, Beckwith, Wells etc. Just nice to be able to pick some of these guys, I get the feeling they had a blast playing up tempo baseball, four games in a weekend, traveling all over the countryside. They have great pitching depth at S/R types, and some really good LHP.

So THANKS!! to SOM for introducing these cards. I appreciate it. And I will try to build a big, bad winning team with these priceless gems that we have the pleasure to choose for our teams.

Curious how your team did. I managed to draft a team more or less full of the Negro League players and am loving it. They're out of the gate at 18-9 showing no signs of leveling out.

We have a few exceptions to the Negro League theme, such as the ballpark is Huntington, my bench, and a few pitchers:

Smokey Joe Williams
Leroy Matlock
Willis Hudlin (we let him on the team)

Dale Murray
Bruce Sutter (nice relievers, eh? we made room for them too)

Jackie Robinson (he counts, doesn't he?)

John Beckwith
Bullet Joe Rogan
Oscar Charleston
Turkey Stearnes

not sure why you have 4 players that can catch. especially considering that gibson and beckwith can each go down for 15 games pretty much castrating your offense if they go down, but oh well.

Neither am I. Completely overlooked that. Gonna be interesting when Gibson goes down and Beckwith catches. Might need to make an emergency pickup if things get out of control.

This offense can't be castrated by the loss of those two by the way, more like circumcised.

they went 93-69 so not bad, and lost in the finals, lots of fun with the offense and SP
