Diamond dope question

PostThu Jan 31, 2013 5:46 pm

I downloaded the pool spreadsheet. Is there a caption somewhere showing what all the column headings represent?

These are the columns I am not sure about and my guess if any.

BR ?
L_BR ?
R_BR ?
L_OB ?
R_OB ?
L_XB ?
R_XB ?

L_SI_C LH Ballpark singles symbol?
R_SI_C RH Ballpark singles symbol?
L_HR_C Ballpark HR symbol?
R_HR_C Ballpark HR symbol?
L_CL LH clutch symbol?
R_CL RH clutch symbol
T_CL Total Clutch

highlighted is what I think they mean-

BR batting runs (this is a calculated formula - you can hover over the BR header on the diamond dope card reader to see the formula)
L_BR batting runs vs LH pitching
R_BR batting runs vs RH pitching?
L_OB OBP vs LHP
R_OB OBP vs RHP
L_XB extra base hits vs LHP
R_XB extra base hits vs RHP

these I believe you are correct on-
L_SI_C LH Ballpark singles symbol?
R_SI_C RH Ballpark singles symbol?
L_HR_C Ballpark HR symbol?
R_HR_C Ballpark HR symbol?
L_CL LH clutch symbol?
R_CL RH clutch symbol

I don't see this column at all -

T_CL Total Clutch

If L_OB stands for left handed on base percentage then what does L_OBP stand for?

Gotta stand for something else.

I believe OB stands for the total on base chances and OBP stands for on base percentage. If you sort by each of those columns in excel you'll notice the same order for both. So yeah, for what you need it for it means the same thing.

Yes, as Corky noted, OB is the raw on base number: H+BB+HBP and OBP is the percentage: (H+BB+HBP)/108

L/R_SI/HR_C is the number of park effect "chances" for singles or home runs. CL is clutch--either negative or positive.
