For pick number 229 I choose Don Wert, but the chemistry isn't right. Can I give him his unconditional release now, then when my turn comes up again replace him. Or should I wait until after the selection process is over?

At this stage I don't think anyone is too worried about such moves. Go ahead and drop him and repick when it's your turn, as you suggested.

This will, of course, be a stain on Wert's character. I never imagined he was a bad seed....
