I remember Berry more as the bumbling Captain Wilton Parmenter on "F-Troop"!

Wrangler Jane was definitely one of the first girls I ever drooled over...just sayin.

Guys- We have a little one that's under the weather and was up most of the night with her - going to the doc this afternoon. I have not kept up with the spreadsheet the last couple of rounds. I just ask that everyone keeps track of the cap numbers from here on out, or someone else is welcome to update and send it out.

I am "in" for the tournament and can help coordinate, the I'd nominate Bill for Grand Poobah!

And I never quite understood how Ken Berry's character related to the Griffiths.... And yes, F-Troop was a classic! I think it probably won multiple awards for its historically accurate portayal of Native Americans.

My schedule is not always favorable enough to be a Commissioner but I'd have no trouble giving it a shot or just help as best I can. I don't know the player set enough to know whether there's enough players to do a certain era etc.

How do we feel about this as a basic plan....

Pre 1909
1910-1929
1930-1949
1950-1959
1960-1969 (current)
1970-1979
1980-1989
1990-1999

8 seasons. Once we start playing the season, the draft for the next season starts. Hopefully that draft will end sometime around mid-season so we'll have two seasons playing , and one draft happening at once? If that's too much for anybody, let us know. We don't want to force it down your throat. It's supposed to be enjoyable, not a hassle.

It doesn't really matter what order we go as we work through each season.

SCORING:

You get ONE POINT for each REGULAR SEASON win during a season.
Doing this makes games very important despite being out of playoff contention and keeps managers active.

You get THREE bonus points for making the playoffs.
You get FIVE bonus points for winning the first round series.
You get TEN bonus points for winning the championship.

If a team went 90-72 and won it all...they'd get 90 points for their wins, 3 points for making the playoffs, 5 points for winning the first round and 10 points for winning the championship. A total of 108 point in this example.

Points are updated as we complete each season. Each season the division alignment and draft order is established by randomizer.

Let me know your thoughts and if you see any flaws etc. Thanks!

I like it and I'm in. This will be fun! I can assist with creating the player spreadsheets for each league and emailing them out to whoever wants one.

Yes, I am in too. I can continue to play the role I have, at least to begin with, if all see value in that, but if anyone else wants a chance at that glory, by all means, step up!

Has anyone checked the player sets to see if this is logistically possible in terms of roster requirements, player availability and such?

I'm in.
My only comment is that with the 1910-1929 time frame, you're actually mixing two eras - the end of the deadball era with the advent of the homerun era.

As baseball purists, do we want to do that?

And taking a quick look at the available players, there's really maybe a half-dozen prolific long-ballers; Ruth, Gehrig, Hornsby, Ott, Foxx, Simmons, Wilson (and the latter three - not their best years in HR numbers); after that, any remaining are in the low 20s in homers.

So a half dozen teams would have a distinct advantage in long-ball hitters?

If we're combining decades, I think 20s and 30s go together better, as do the 40s and 50s, if they can't stand alone, which I thought was the original idea.

Just my thoughts and comments - no criticism intended whatsoever!

BTW - I used to be katzenjammer
