Anibel Sanchez 2012

PostMon Feb 11, 2013 11:34 am

I recently had Anibel Sanchez in one of my leagues get injured for 12 games and he is a SP*.
Is that something knew or something to do with his stats.
Thanks for input.

I believe that since Anibal pitched less than 200 innings, he can get hurt for any amount of time (similar to a hitter under 599 PAs).

Correct. The asterick rating does not have anything to to do with injury. Only wheather he can pitch on 3 days rest. I believe injury for starting pitchers is actually tied to haw many GAMES they pitched not innings.

Here are the official guidelines from Strato online. Injury limits are primarily due to innings pitched.

Pitchers
Real-life IP Max. length of injury
0-199 15 games
200+ 3 games

I think these rules are too simplistic. I think there needs to be more levels of injuries for pitchers.

I beleive that the 0-199 threshhold means they could be eligible for a 15 game injury, not that it's the only option. There is still a roll done on the injury chart to determine how long a guy is out. He could miss 3, 4, 6 10 games, pick a number, it just depends on the roll.

Of course there is a dice roll to determine the amount of games to be missed. However, a guy pitches 199 innings could be hurt for 15 games while a guy who pitches 201 innings can only miss 3 games (not even a missed start for a * pitcher). That is too big of a chasm IMO.

there always has to be a cutoff, and those just on the wrong side will always be a risk.

Same with the guy who has 599 ab's.

You're right though, it would be nice if something like 175-199 innings max 9 game injury, or something like that (also 550-599 ab's)

But that would be asking SOM to change their model they've been using for decades, and we all know the chance of that is slim to none.

Now if we could just figure a way to merge tHE LH side of his card with the RH side of his team mate Scherzer.. we might have something. ;)

The chart header does say Max. length of injury, so obviously the injury could be (and usually will be) less.
