Reminds me of the first car I ever owned. Passed down to me from my mom as a teenager.
Used to threaten on a regular basis to trade that car in but it kept chugging away even after I wrecked it twice.
Then one day I bought another car and was going to sell the old one via newspaper. But it quit next day. would not change gears or move at all. Threats of being traded apparently no longer carried any teeth.
Parked it for 2 years.
Then came across someone who liked to work on cars and thought they could fix it up. They hooked up jumper cables and car started right up, changed gears just fine and they drove it right off. Two years later they pull that car in to my brother-in-laws muffler shop. It needed a new muffler. They had not had to spend a dime on it that whole time.
Gotta be careful talking trade out loud.
