Saltman

PostMon Feb 18, 2013 8:33 pm

In case you didn't know (Mark) Saltman has stopped playing here. He was simply fed up with the lack of communication and customer service....He was my friend, and will be missed because he was one of the good ones.

That's bad news. He always was active with witty comments during live drafts. He would immediately pursue trade opportunities upon the completion of the live drafts. I always sent him an e mail when the draft finished with the content being want to make a trade?

Hope he comes back at a later date. He will be missed.

Wow! That sucks. He was only vocal because of his passion and love for the game. Too bad Strat was not able to understand that. He spoke up for all of us guys that did not have the courage. I met him through this game and we became friends but we never met in person. We enjoyed tossing around different ideas on strategies and player evaluations through private e-mails. Mostly during the live draft era. My hope is he will take a break for a while and then when/if live drafts come back, he will come back to join a league with us.

I heard he was suspended from this forum a couple weeks ago for speaking his mind. He is not a fan of censorship.

I will miss Salty. Loved discussing trades with him. We had some good back and forth philosophical discussions that sometimes led to trades. But fun discussions regardless of outcome.

I had heard he got banned from boards. I also heard the same about nev. So this was a bitter sweet post for me. Sorry to hear Salty may be gone for good. But assume since nev posted this he either was not banned or has been reinstated and I am happy about that.

You know, Salt was always good about being both engaging and respectful to a wide range
of managers in the SOM community. SOM itself, not so much, but he was always amazing
how many managers who could talk about on a first name basis.

I heard someone say he might take a look back at strat and consider it again, but he
seemed determined to try another hobby out first. And if finds a new passion, my
guess is he won't be back.

Salt is looking at a different baseball game, not a different hobby. We used to privately chat incessantly during live drafts. I really enjoyed Salt, he's actually pretty mellow. That he ended up stridently vocalizing his unhappiness with his/our treatment by the game company is an accurate measure of just how shabby that treatment was.

Leagues seem to have been filling slower the past couple of weeks. Perhaps many more will leave or have quietly left. It just seems ironic that people pay good money in tough times, only to be treated badly. Remarkably badly. Around here the main strategy for "growing the game" seems to be "addition by subtraction." Brought to you by Alan Greenspan.

2-1 odds that this thread ain't here come tomorrow morning.

Bummer.

Salt will be missed both as a competitor and as a valued commenter on these boards. Hopefully things change enough here to bring him (and others) back into the community. Since becoming a member I have been continually impressed with the passion and enthusiasm and analytical devotion some have to this great game -- I sincerely hope SOM management realizes what great assets they have lost and may yet lose due to their indifference to many of the issues that concern their customers.
