Center field defense

In a theme league, I have a choice of two players who are similar offensively, but I must start one of them in center.

Player A is a 2(+2)4
Player B is a 3(-2)7

A is minutely better offensively, but not enough to matter.......

The 2 Range or the -2 arm?

But, still the one place where arm makes a huge difference is in CF. I'd really rather have both.

I was leaning to the 2(+2), and I have a 2(-3) as a defensive sub.................

The range is far more important. Many more X chances than base running chances. Frequently I see my poorer arms with more assists since HAL apparently doesn't like to challenge strong arms.

For what its worth, here's what I use to calculate a center fielder's defense:
2 range = +9 runs allowed per 700 PA
3 range = +19.5 runs allowed per 700 PA

+2 arm = +30.3 runs allowed per 700 PA
-2 arm = - 1.5 runs allowed per 700 PA

This note on arm ratings. The major factor with catchers' and outfielders' arm rating is the advances allowed or prohibited.

Yes, Rag arm, wet noodle bat Ben Revere is more valuable than a poor Cf with a strong arm

I was wondering that too. It doesn't really go with Dean's Def vs Off thread from a long time ago.

Cannot help latching on to this. Some time back I built a database of card data and attempted to reduce everything to a runs created model. Challenge to do that with some of the ratings. Never could decide what values to assign related to arm ratings. So curious how you arrived at your numbers if you do not mind me being nosy and picking your brain.
