Help Please

PostSat Feb 16, 2013 10:46 am

I am new to Strato and we are now in the waiver process. I am looking for advice on who I should go after in the waiver process in order to make my team better. Any thoughts?

You only need 4 *SP's.

Take the top 4 highest priced *SP's.
Get rid of the rest. You will need to keep 1 more SP as the rules say u need 5 SP's. Spend less than $1 miilion for him and make sure he's ONLY a SP.
Then take that $ and invest in the bullpen. The RP's you have are OK, but you need more innings. Upgrade Brewer to his best card as well.

In the INF, you're OK with Bench and Gehrig, Howard should DH vs. RH's.

You need help @ 2B, SS and 3B. Knobloch/Rollins are under-performers and McGraw's defense makes him a DH only.
If you can't find any takers for Knobloch, then get a platoon vs. RH's for him. (Nothing worse than a 2 on defense.)

Another option is to fill that 5th SP slot with a guy who can also relieve and use that as your mopup and/or middle reliever as they usually have high R ratings. If you go with a guy who is SP only for that 5th spot your goal is probably for him to never start or pitch at all. With that target of 0 innings forget the under 1 mil and go for one of the many 0.500 guys. In 200 mil you can usually afford a good S/R guy for matchups in extreme parks or long relief.

Agree with vsick your infield is weak. At 200 mil though choices left on FA wire may be thin. You might consider offering shopping your abundance of * pitchers for a middle infield upgrade. Trades are easier to pull off at 200 mil than lower caps because opposing managers can get better players via trade than is available on FA market. So they are more willing to make and accept fair offers. Don't be in a big hurry to drop those extra * pitchers if you cannot obtain good position replacements.

Felix Hernandez and Eddie Plank are dead weight. I would suggest you drop both and use the $ somewhere else. (if available, you can grab someone like $1.91 Bennett and use him as a lefty specialist in relief to keep your pitcher roster valid)

You also need perhaps a RP with innings. Is there anyone decent available?

I would suggest if you're new to play a few 100m caps first...............200m is a difficult cap to start out with
