I'm in that league too, and I don't have any problems with the trade. Could work well or badly for both teams. High quality pitching and a mediocre but serviceable (in the right park) 2B, for medium-level pitching and one of the top position players in the set.

I should have said at the get go that the team that received Hornsby was over 24 games out of first and that the team giving up Hornsby was 3 games out of the wildcard race, with 24 games to go in the season. The trade occurred with one day remaining before the trading deadline.

The team that gave up Hornsby got #1, #3 and #13 best SP; they gave up #18, #20 and #38 SP. Got #6 RP and gave up #12 RP.

The timing of the trade could have been much better, but I stand corrected, I guess it isn't player dumping. Just one team that has potential benefits from the trade though since one team is out of it.

Not quite sure how one can definitively rank pitchers as was done in the post just prior to mine.

Hornsby and Hubbell are at least off to a good start for you . . . can't complain about that

Delivery Boy welcomes all trades. He traded his first 3 wives in for divorce papers...

Sincerely,

Assume the ranking was based on salaries but as we all know salaries are not always the best way to determine how cards should be ranked, especially when ballparks are factored in. Would be interesting to see how the season finishes out. chuck will likely finish last but would be interesting to see if that trade had been made earlier if the shift from pitching to offense could have made some difference. Though for ATG and Fulton Maddux was doing well. And Sandberg was putting up some nice numbers.

I might have went with the slightly cheaper Johnson card in Fulton since it has no # at all and is fairly close otherwise. Plus with the more expensive card part of the price is probably the relief rating which is meaningless if you were starting him every 4th game. But that is unsolicited advice. But making that change midseason takes a cap hit so trading if you decided you used the wrong version is not a bad thing.

Late in the season I would MUCH rather see the last place team making trades than drops.

So far 6-3 for the team getting Hornsby and 5-4 for the team getting Maddux. Should have made the trade sooner, sometimes in a bomber park you need to get your offense to a strong enough point to continually win.

last thing you want playing in a bomber park is the opposition to outmuscle you.
I think too that often starters get chased early through no fault of their own because of rolls on hitter cards and ballpark impact. I usually care more about my bullpen when going bomber park than rotation.

With 7 of his 9 hitters with 30 or more HRs and Berra with 24, not counting Hornsby, I don't think offense was really his problem. But hey we all know that 9 games makes a season right.

9 is usually enough for most fans in Dallas to curse the Cowboys and Jones to declare super bowl contention.
