Willie, Mickey and The Duke 1947-1959; DRAFTING!

Thanks for forming the league and I don't mean to complain, as it's not a huge deal, but can you send a quick message to the strat boys to see if they would change the league name to Willie, Mickey and The Duke? Just so we can keep on theme? That would make it easier to look back on these leagues someday and remember which is which.... Just a thought.

Sorry, I prefer the multiple teams in a theme league have similar league names so they are easily tied together in our team history. However, I can have the name changed.

My logic:

The tournament is a collection of era themes. Subsequent years will have Roman numerals for each era league name Four years from now we will be playing Willie Mickey and the Duke IV perhaps and that will be better than The Signs They are a Changing XXIV or whatever it would be, which would not indicate the era. Thanks for getting it changed.

1. The Signs They Are a Changing: 1960-1969 - 296 hitters & 212 pitchers – Now playing
2. Willie, Mickey and The Duke: 1947-1959 - 312 hitters & 213 pitchers - Preseason
3. Giants of Every Color: 1935-1946 + NEL - 307 hitters & 199 pitchers:80M No DH: Draft starts MARCH 26
4. The Sultans of Swing: 1920-1934 - 319 hitters & 196 pitchers:80M No DH
5. Small Ball Kings: Pre 1920 - 351 hitters & 249 pitchers: 80M No DH
6. Tear Down This Wall: 1986-current - 337 hitters & 222 pitchers: 80M with DH
7. Billy, You’re Fired: 1979-1985 - 307 hitters & 218 pitchers: 80M with DH
8. Henceforth and Forever Free Agents!: 1970-1978 - 303 hitters & 225 pitchers: 80M with DH

First pass through will have these league names for each successive era's league. Second tournament (i.e. next year, or whenever we get to it) will carry a Roman numeral II behind each of these, the third a III, etc.

Barry and McGwire will never play in a Willie Mickey and The Duke league. Nor will Barry McGuire! Only players from their repspective eras will play under their respective league names, but successive tournaments (we talked about an annual event)will carry II, III, IV, V, etc. behind these 8 unique league names.

Hope that makes sense now and clarifies why I asked Kev to change the league name. Aside from me generally being a pain in the rear end. As I told Kev, this may be the only creative thing I have done in modern times, so I wanted to stick to the naming plan set out in the main thread. Ths also shows the order of play for the various eras.

Hey Rick- I started a new thread for that league. Draft order will be based on reverse order of point standings through the March 25 games. All future leagues in this tourney will use this method for draft order.
