Hey Strat, how come your trade page requires me to offer something when real life MLB makes no such requirement.

As the article points out this is a bit awkward for the player. One would think if Amaro did not want him he could just cut him and let him be a free agent instead of trading him for no compensation. I realize this is a minor player of little importance but what Miami were to pull something like this. I know some of you think they already did. I have to believe there is some kind of unofficial consideration under the table happening with this deal.

My immediate thought though was it reminded me of that guy who got traded for a case of beer many years ago.
Anyone remember who that was? Wouldn't it be funny if one of these players who gets traded for something silly turned their career around and became a significant player? What if he were to go on to be a HOFer? Then Amaro would be forever remembered with the trivia question of the GM who traded a HOFer for nothing.

That thought makes me wonder something. And I can think of nobody better than the brilliant people on the ATG forum who are historically great sources of information. What has been the least amount ever received by any team in exchange for a future HOF player? Who came the closest to trading away a HOFer for nothing?

Here ya go Valen, the wierdest trades in MLB history, i didnt look at them all, but I did remember one, the catfish guy.

A guy was traded for 10 lbs catfish, cash, and a player to be named later, only to pitch a perfect game a few days later!

Dave Winfield, yes, that Dave Winfield, was traded for... wait, wait for it... wait... Dinner!
