I agree supertyphoon it makes sense for opponents to pitch around Stanton. But realistically I think that will probably lead to around the 143 of last year. I did not see anyone in that lineup last year, even at the beginning, who scared me and as a pitcher would have been just as likely to pitch around him in 2012 as this year.

So not accusing you of being negative, just maybe overreacting a little. Understandable since our emotions high when talking about the teams we follow.

For those of you who have been concerned about the future of Marlins attendance I want to assure you they have found a solution.

I repeat.

The Marlins have solved thier attendance problem.

Doubt it? Check this article.

The little buggers refuse to come, just sue them guys. It's the American way.

Is selling off 90% of your starting lineup during/after year one a breach of contract for a 2-year seat license agreement?

Considering the tide of public opinion in this city against the Marlins in general and Loria in particular right now, I don't think the team would want to risk taking this to court. We'd like to think the case would get a fair impartial hearing, but when one side is a despised dirtbag billionaire owner, it's hard not to rule in favor of poor mistreated fans who've paid good money to watch "a Double A team".

I gotta agree. The Marlins do appear ready to take this to court. But think this is a no win situation for them.
If they win they get a few thousand. That is like a drop of water in a river compared to the money that flows through a professional sports team. And think of the negative publicity regardless of what a judge rules. So he forces a couple guys to pay up for an extra season. How many more will be turned off? It could be Marlins owners are running this so poorly they will make it impossible for baseball in Miami to recover.

Maybe instead of taking those fans to court they could just ban them for being too critical. Those silly fans do not think ownership is doing a good job just refuse to let them spend any more money. That will show them.

Ye Gods!

I'll have to revise my prediction even before the season starts. No way they even sniff at 1 million attendance.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present your 2013 Marlins ( - sigh - )

35,000 was quite a surprise though. However, management is trying very hard to keep it from happening again.

No matter how bad things get there is a core of people who love baseball so much they will show up.

I read another article today but could not find the link just now.
Apparently a couple Marlins fans showed up with t-shirts protesting Marlins gutting of team and were pulled aside by police. When they refused to show id they were removed from stadium.

Announced attendance for last night's game was 13,810 - the smallest ever for Marlins Park. As you can see from this photo taken during the national anthem, actual number of fans in the seats was far less than that. Train wreck of a season so far.
