I absolutely agree with the consensus that there are some overpriced players, Chase Headley and Andrew McCutchen come to everyone's mind. But I disagree with much of the rest of the analysis on the pricing of this set.

First off, I had no problems building a team for 80 million bucks and I would even like to see either a 75 million dollar cap, or better yet I wish they would switch to a format where each team is forced to carry a minimum of 25 or even 27 players. I think mandatory larger rosters would add more strategy to the game and more realism. You could roll with more platoons, pinch hitters, defensive replacements, situational relievers and even situational starters. I do not like the fact that teams can carry a minimum of 24 players, I find it unrealistic for a modern baseball team to make it through a season with 24 players. Having said that, it is not going to stop me from playing.

I have never been a fan of spending 10 million dollars on any one player in an 80 million dollar league, so it does not bother me too much that guys like McCutchen and Headley are overpriced, I would avoid them anyway.

There are still many bargains in this set, and with the pricing kind of off in many people's minds this only gives the GMs who really take the time to study the cards a bigger advantage. Besides everyone is working with the same salaries, so fairness is not an issue.

There is a premium on OBP , defense and pitching because that is what wins games!

As mentioned by several other posters comparing salaries from this set to the ATG sets is not fair, it is a whole different game.

There still exists many ways to skin a cat,...or win a division.

Lastly, would anyone possibly be interested in a theme league where you had to carry the maximum amount of players (28 I think it is) and you had to get every player on your roster into either a minimum amount of games (say 25) or get them a minimum number of at bats (50-100) or innings pitched (30-40). This theme would be about using all of your team, including the bench and role players just the way it is done in MLB baseball. It would create a lot of extra strategy, you would have to decide when to play bench players and make sure you get them a few at bats a week just like in real life.
