Here's another brain-twister..uhhh teaser.. (read too many Mike Shannon quotes)

Let's say the Lazy Daisy Rancher's leadoff batter Eddie Stinky starts the game with a walk. Maury Wills grabs a bat and then doubles scoring Stinky. Frankie Frisch is on deck. Opposing manager Frank Bailey notes that Maury Wills should be batting third according to the lineup card and Frankie Frisch should have batted second. The homeplate umpire calls both Maury and Frankie Frisch out since Frisch should have batted second and also batted out of order. Delivery Boy argues that Maury should only be called out and Frisch should still be at bat nullifying only Maury's plate appearance. Frank Bailey maintains that 2 consecutive batters out of order constitutes a double play...and what about Stinky's run? Where would you put him?

A) Hal decided he didn't need the headaches and replayed the inning so it didn't appear in the forum as a complaint.
B) The Ranchers lost anyways, so it's another non-issue.
C) Put Stinky back at first. Maury was dropped to free agency very soon after the game.
D) Buy more teams...

Assuming the appeal is made before the next pitch or play, the proper batter – Frisch – is called out. Stanky is returned to first since he advanced on the double by the improper batter (Wills). Wills now bats legally, to be followed by whoever is listed after him in the lineup. (Frisch didn't bat out of order, since he hadn't batted yet.)

Maury Wills in his proper at bat grounded into a double play, so he was responsible for all 3 out in the inning. The official score keeper credited Maury with hitting into a triple play. If Delivery Boy's looks could kill...
