1.No- I don't think an owner should be able to change stadiums between seasons. If changing you should have to have it for both seasons.

2.Yes

Here are my thoughts:

Rule 6: I kind of liked the idea that your stadium is your stadium, period. I do understand the thought that this is a game and we want everyone to have a good time, but i liked that this was one of the things that made this league different.

Rule 7: (And not just because this one effects me) I believe that while yes I am tied to a stadium, I didn't sign up to be tied to the team, otherwise I would have selected the Miami Marlins, and not Sun Life Stadium. And it's not just a name change - the whole stadium is just not an option for play for the cards. So i believe that anyone should have this option when this situation arises.

While we're voting on things what's about a shorter clock. This draft os moving painfully slow.

Yes, I was going to propose those next. Given your concern about changing stadiums between seasons, we will revote, of necessary, on the stadiums before doing draft voting, but it's coming!

This is all very helpful. Originally, the issue came up for me when considering Sknsfan's situation. Sun Life is no more, and Marlin Park has replaced it. Yet, nowhere in the rules does it specifically state that he must take the park that was built to replace the one he lost. Some would argue that he should have to take Marlin Park because it's associated with the team. Others would say that he is free to pick any available park. As I've considered the rules on this, which are muddy at best, I believe they at least need to be amended.

Here are what I would propose as amendments to the current rules:

CURRENT RULES
Stadium rules:
1) Each player will draft a stadium during Round 41 of the Initial Free Agent draft.
2) Stadium draft order will be the reverse of Round 1 of the Initial Free Agent draft.
3) Stadiums are unique and belong to each owner for the duration of the league. There will be no annual or seasonal draft of new stadiums, so choose your stadium wisely.
4) Stadiums can only be changed through trade. Players may trade stadiums with other players at any time except while a regular season is in progress.
5) Replacement owners will be allowed a one-time option to change stadiums upon joining the league.

AMENDED RULES: AMENDMENTS PROPOSED ARE IN BOLD
Stadium rules:

2) Stadium draft order will be the reverse of Round 1 of the Initial Free Agent draft.

5) Replacement owners will be allowed a one-time option to change stadiums upon joining the league
6) An owner may select a new stadium every two years from those not currently in use, and selection will be on a first-come/first-served basis. New stadium selection will only be allowed during the drop and draft periods directly preceding free agent drafts (both annual and supplementary).
7) In the event that an MLB stadium is, for any reason, retired from use, that stadium's owner will be allowed to switch to a new stadium not currently in use.

To vote on these, we should split them up. The amendment to rule 4 is academic based on whether amendments 6 & 7 pass or fail. Yes votes are "for" the rule amendment. No votes are "against" the rule amendment.

Rule 6:

I don't think Sknsfan should be allowed to switch stadiums unless everyone else is. As Roscoe pointed out, we wouldn't allow the owners of Petco and Citi field to change parks when they move the fence in, so it seems unfair to let someone else change, based on a similar event. Also, what if there was just a name change for the same ballpark? What if they performed renovations at the same time as the name change, which altered the way the park played?

Also, someone who picks Fenway might never be able to change, and other teams might be able to change frequently as their team updates the park or relocates. It seems like that would lead to arbitrary rules, which may favor some players. My take on it is that either you stick with the park of the franchise you chose, or we allow everyone to change parks every so often.
