With that team I think you will turn it around. I wish I had a clue what I was doing so I could offer you some advice!

I like most of your team jimmiejoe. But you may have one too many RH starters. With the top 4 Dierker is like one of those donut spares. I would see if I could swap one of those top 4 for a similar quality Lefty starter. That will give you better balance and make Dierker somewhat useful as a specialist.

A strong bullpen might not be important given the quality starting pitching but would still like to see one quality reliever as a closer or setup/closer. That Allen card is one of my favorites but not as an every day third baseman.

jimmiejoe - I am no expert at 200M (or other limits for that matter), but if you are going to play both Gibson and Bresnahan in the same lineup I would consider taking advantage of Bresnahan's defense and let him catch and Gibson DH.

I also agree that Allen is not likely the best 3B against RHP. Looks like your Allen is .179/.233/.339 currently against righties. See if you can pry the 7.80 Santo away from whoever has him to play against RHPs.

Boyer14 -
IMHO - 1st tier - Ruth, Bonds, Hornsby .. 2nd Tier - Gibson, Mantle, Foxx .. those 6 are about 50-50 chance of getting at 1 .. Anyone after them I would be very confident to get at 1, Dimaggio, Charleston, Gehrig, Williams, Thomas .. and would feel I have a 50-50 chance listing them as 2.

Jimmiejoe - Don't panic (meaning don't make bad trades or randomly drop players) You have some very nice pieces .. team as is should finish at .500 or even better. Starters are strong but bullpen is very weak .. It is much harder to survive with holes in your team at this level .. Rollins is really not fit for this cap and will struggle to hit .210 .. Allen's card cannot play both ways, and possible you might be better off with his $7.95 card as full time DH. Gibson, Thomas and Lajoie are all excellent for your park, Mantle and Walker are both very good (I would platoon Walker with Salmon). Your defense is very strong .. your team is such that it can easily make a 15-6 run to be right back at .500.
For full disclosure I must advise I am in same league ..

Sometimes a team you think should play better than .500 and contend for wildcard does neither .. now the challenge is to not loose 100 ..

Try your best to really understand how to read the cards and understand all the advance rules in play....think for yourself.

It is good to get advice from many people and be a good listener. It can be helpful to study the teams of the best players on here. And it can be a lot of fun to just talk strat and strategy.

But I think what nev just posted is the best advice you could ever get. If you just copy someone or do what someone else tells you to do there is no challenge or personal accomplishment. That thinking for yourself thing has no substitute and in my opinion is the best recipe for having the most fun playing strat.

True story...Awhile back I used Len Barker on about 4 200m teams in row just to test if HAL pulls a S5 faster than the usual S8 and S9s on most rosters in 200m.

Len Barker!

Len Barker in 200m

But wouldn't you know after a few starts on each team and once I cut him (he sucked of course) he was picked up in two of the 4 leagues AND picked up in waivers in subsequent leagues just because he was seen on a few of my teams...crazy!

I use Linzy .93 9R on most of my 200m teams....Until recently no one else really did...Now Linzy isn't the best righty rp...or even the best hard leaning righty rp...he is (was) just an easy get...Simple as that....Now since he's on most of my teams he somehow has become valuable to others as well, they just gotta have him.

There a nine million players in this pool....I'm currently in the playoffs here (Finals) with T. Salmon, Brooks Robinson AND Gorman Thomas as my starters all year in Minute Maid....These 3 are often on the waiver wire...I'm in another Finals with B. Grich as my starting 2b all year...

You can blindly copy and catch lightning in a bottle once in awhile or really take some time and learn why guys work here, there, everywhere or nowhere....

Because

Once you learn the cards and the rules (boy I'm not even sure on those) the pieces you need to make "your" puzzle work are almost always there. :)
