Changing BallParks

PostThu Apr 04, 2013 1:17 pm

I think we should be able to change ball parks after the draft. The reason for this is if you set your draft for a ball park, i.e. all RH starters in a RH hitters park and you end up with three LH starters after the draft it sucks. From SOM game rules page " Make sure that your ballpark matches your talent, and the type of baseball you like to play! " this would be fine if you get every player on your draft card, but we all know that is rarely the case. More often than not players change drastically and strategy adjustments are needed. Why can't changing the ballpark be one of these strategies?

There s just no way to police it. Other teams in the division/league build teams to play in your stadium also.

Don t get me wrong, I do like the idea, it happens to all of us. We all have bad drafts where we wish we could change stadiums.

If, and its a big IF... They would allow us to switch within ONE HOUR after the teams are drafted. I would go for that. Gives ya a quick heads up if things went terribly wrong in the draft, and wouldnt be that bad for the teams in the league, as all managers stadiums would be set 1 hour after the draft.

The only thing with this, is you would need to constantly be watching your league fill, cause tween certain hours the draft happens ten minutes after the league fills.

They had that option for a while, and there was a big uproar against it.

Because a lot of players make sure they get guys for the other parks they will be playing in too.

Say your team in in Kaufman, and there are 3 progrssive's in your division. Ok, so you pick up some LH hitters and batters, more than you normally would. Now 2 of those change to Fenway (complete oppoosite). The players you have now don't fit, and the players you could have gotten instead are gone.

The only way it would be acceptable, is if the change took place at least a full 24 hours before waivers so people can adjust. Otherwise, it is unfair to the other participants.

Yeah, this was bandied about before, and most everyone, while we all get a bad draft from time to time, was not in favor of it.

My two reasons against it:
1--The pool is large enough that, while you may not get THE guy you wanted, you can recover with 4,266 cards in the set

2--The whole preseason would have the possibility of being fruit basket turnover. Makes my head hurt
