That platoon is costing you 15.79 mil. In a quarter season that platoon has given you 18 HRs, 45 RBI, roughly .370 BA and over .800 slugging. The Thome half is allowing a baserunner on about 56% of chances. So one might fault the defensive aspect. But I will leave that discussion for others.
Is there any individual card which could give you the same production you are getting for that money? I doubt it, at least so far. I like using Thome in a 3rd base platoon, though I tend to favor one of the many options that provide outstanding defense to pair him with. That way I can use the platoon partner as a defensive replacement. But given results I have to wonder why you are even asking a question. By too much are you asking if it costs too much or providing too much offense?
