Hmmm...Tyler Moore

Just a question, but how come Tyler Moore's card does not reflect his real 2012 season at all?

In 2012 Moore hit the following:

.247/.307/.473 vs. LHP
.286/.357/.571 vs. RHP

Yet he is a 1L in SOM. I have no qualms about it, but I am curious.

you're completely right -- it makes no sense, no matter the rationalization -- and his OB and TB on his card are higher for LHP, EVEN THOUGH he's a righty and so his numbers vs. RHP will already be diminished

his sOPS+ vs. RHP last year was 160! (compared to a negligible 105 vs. LHP)

No one else has thoughts? I find it very strange. It's almost, not quite, but almost, like someone copy and pasted his vs. LH to his vs. RH.

Possibly because of the number of plate appearances he had vs. LH pitchers against the # of PA vs. RH P
He had 101 PA against LH and only 70 against RH. Usually, the split is 70% vs RH, but with Moore it's 59% LH.

When players have a limited number of ABs and thus an insufficient sample size Strat fudges a little with the numbers to create a card that most likely resembles what he would have had if he had played an entire season. If the player is not a rookie sometimes they will bias the card in the direction of his previous season track record. Being a rookie I suspect they built the card to reflect the standard distribution of a RH hitter.

If they felt the need to fudge, then why not make him an unleashed player and give him a card reflective of his true season? I thought the purpose of the cards were to mostly mimic a player's season. I realize this is a game and the need to have variables, but that card, in particular, seems to have strayed a lot further than I would expect.
