RE: Manipulating Bullpen Settings

Is there a way to manipulate the Starting Pitcher settings the way you can with the Bullpen (RP's)? I am getting tired of seeing RP's being able to get anywhere from 150-200+ innings. I would love to Kershaw throw for 600+ innings. If you can manipulate the Bullpen Settings you should be able to manipulate the Starting Pitching.

Example:

These two are on the same team and we have played 90 games.

Valdes- Real-Life: 27 Games and 31 Innings- Strat: 36 games (so far) 90.2 Innings Pitched
Tazawa- Real-Life: 37 Games and 44 Innings- Strat: 41 Games and 91 Innings Pitched

Another Team in our league:

McGee- Real-Life: 69 Games and 55.1 Innings- Strat: 57 Games (so far) 101.1 Innings Pitched

This my team- http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/821808

ok, yes it's out of wack from a realism standpoint. On the other hand, in the cases o Valdez and Tazawa, you are paying for those innings

My belief is to put him to F0 IBB less slow hook is the only way there is no "don't pull until arm is hanging" setting I know you can get big innings in the mystery card games this way don't know if it will work in new leagues

I've been afraid to go lower than F6 with a starter, am I being too conservative ?

I wonder the same thing about myself. I get queezy going lower than F7. I think if you have an absolutely stunning pitcher card, you can go really low on the F settings (sounds like photography!), but if the pitcher is just slightly better than average, I wonder if it is a good idea to go too low on the F setting. I always set it to "quick hook" as well whenever I use the F settings, so that HAL pulls him relatively quickly after he hits that level.

It may be a matter of personal preference, but I hate the idea of having a pitcher in the game when he's past his endurance, unless it makes sense for strategic reasons, or there are no other pitchers available. I hate what happens to pitchers once they get down near or at F0 for too long - hit after hit, walk after walk, and home runs. Yeah, I can see it for a Kershaw or a Verlander, but even then I cringe at F0 for too long. Keep in mind that HAL doesn't pull pitchers quickly sometimes. It's hard to predict. My personal preference is to keep pitchers fresh in terms of their endurance, unless there is an "in game" strategic reason not to.

^^^ By the way, there's another similar thread going on re optimum bullpen settings. Someone posted saying that they will let HAL make the decisions if you have a stacked bullpen. I agree, but I find that sometimes HAL has a quirky way of picking which reliever to use, although sometimes I like what he does. One strategy I've used lately with a good bullpen is to pick the best guy for the team that I'm facing, and set almost ALL of the bullpen roles to him (except for mop up and lefty-righty specialist roles). But I only set the ONE pitcher for each role. Then, after HAL uses MY choice, then I let HAL pick after that! So far, this seems to be working well. Again, it's only if you have a good bullpen and you trust HAL to make the choice. Anyone I don't want HAL to use I put in the mop-up role.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I know one thing, I'll never pick Nathan to be my closer again!
