New Team Help

PostSun Apr 28, 2013 7:56 pm

New team starting tomorrow. Dodger Stadium. No DH league. I am wondering if I am too heavy in starting pitching. All parks in my division pitching parks (Turner, Dodger, PNC). In fact most in the league are pitcher parks. Should I up my relief pitching or 2b, ss defense. About half of my division opponents pitchers are LH....So I am a little torn on best way to set up my team.

Hitters that are available are Ethier, Cano, Bourn, Gordon, Phillips, Rollins, , Choo. Here is a link to my team. Any ideas would be welcome.

I'm new to the online game myself, but I'll throw in my 2 cents. Love the rotation, I think you need a better closer. Casilla won't cut it. Maybe trade Wainright for a cheaper 4th starter and get a good closer (C4 at least). I don't like the Ichiro card, no on base and no power for 4 1/2 Mil. Maybe get a better defensive 2b and a cheaper outfielder?

Spend your $4M today. Your biggest problem looks to be on offense. too many low OBP guys. Your speedy guys Inchiro S. and Shane V. have low OBP. While your high OBP guy Swisher is a leadfoot.

need more offense.

teams to win titles, typically (again not always, just typical) have between 30-32 mil invested in pitching where you have 35.7

I'd rather see Ichiro in CF, tbh, where you dont need a backup that cost .99 mil anymore.

If you're going to go a cheap 2B that's a 3, why not get one that has better overall offense? Yea Kip will hit some dingers, but have horrendous Ba/OBP. Why not Lemahieu?

Especially since it's a no DH league, you should have 1 lopsided hitter on the bench (great against RH and one again LH pitching). Also that means you want your hitters to be even better, since you basically have an automatic out in there. Maybin and Molina don't cut it, really Ichiro barely does.

Fielder and Wright are great starts, say as your 2/3 hitters, but whose going to leadoff and hit behind them? Save Alexi to bat 7th. Ethier/Choo/Gordon are all great vs RHP (typically will see about 70% of those) but need a platoon mate.

You are in my league but I have to be honest and say Nelson is a great choice.

Note: This is my second team and my first was awful.

you're paying 3+ mil for that 1 defensivley at 2B and SS. Not that I abhor defense, by all means I don't, but the offense you generate from those 2 isn't a much as you think. I have both of those on a 100 mil DH team that is a week away from being done.

Espinosa, D: 31 2B, 3 3B, 15 HR, 63 RBI, .245 .310 .400

Rollins, J: 27 2B, 3 3B, 18 HR, 69 RBI, .236 .303 .393

A Ramirez is a nice cheap option, so you could spend more on other people. If you could get him back I would. Then use that money to upgrade your corner OF's to ones who can hit.

I appreciate all of the advice. Ok, I went back to sorda what I had originally. But with a couple minor tweeks picked up a little better hitters. We will see how all of this works out. Still a work in progress.

I always seem to go through multiple roster changes right up to opening night first pitch.....

I'm going to tag on my newbie question instead of creating another thread.

Do these lineup orders make sense? I simplistically look for OBP for the top. Fortunately this team has speed in both first slots for OBP. I also don't know if I should have LaRoche was down at 6 against RHP.

BP: Citizens Bank

LHP

1 Aybar, Erick (S)
2 Ramirez, Aramis (R)
3 Hamilton, Josh (L)
4 Laroche, Adam (L)
5 Hill, Aaron (R)
6 Aoki, Norichika (L)
7 Pagan, Angel (S)
8 Pierzynski, A.J. (L)

RHP

1 Aoki, Norichika (L)
2 Pagan, Angel (S)
3 Hill, Aaron (R)
4 Hamilton, Josh (L)
5 Ramirez, Aramis (R)
6 Laroche, Adam (L)
7 Pierzynski, A.J. (L)
8 Aybar, Erick (S)

I think the best plan of action for both you guys is to deal players such as Hamilton/ARam and Fielder etc etc to the Aardvarks. They could use all the help they can get ;)
