R2 Pitcher as a Starter?

Just had Brayan Villareal start and pitch a nice game against me 6.2 3 2 2 5 12.
Barely got tired until the 7th inning, overall awesome including striking out the side in the 5th.

I can't get my R2 relievers to start - can't select them in per game starters. Perhaps there is some training I could get?

I understand better why some of my teams struggle so badly.

Relievers can only start if a starting pitcher is unavailable to pitch. So your opponents team must have had an injury to a SP (or SP's) and no other starters that were available to pitch due to lack of rest. Its not an uncommon for this to happen in the online game.

I believe the highest priced reliever is the default injury replacement starter
