Super relievers

PostSun May 12, 2013 4:43 pm

Has anyone tried a team with super relievers? How good would the starters need to be? This years Pirates are 21-16 pretty much with great relief only.

I've got two teams coming up with a middle relief strategy.

Probably be a train wreck but should be fun.

I used it in a" live" league and went 94-68 and lost in the finals. Far cry from using it in a draft league. Good luck with it bertolett and keep us posted

OK, I gave up on the Medlen RP strategy,

I didn't know how to set preferences so that we would always pitch 3+ in middle relief.

Maybe I needed everyone else to be set to "Not before 8".

In theory, Medlen could get more innings as a middle reliever than as a starter...

Medlan salary is based off being a starter. Unless you're in a 200 mill league, It's not a good strategy to use him as a reliever anyways.

200 mil not needed to use Medlen as a reliever.

In anyone's experience, what is the most innings you can get from a stud reliever without his effectiveness dropping significantly? In my league, I have only thrown Kenley Jansen for 90 innings in 135 games, but he has been supremely effective, allowing only 43 hits, 35 walks, and 20 runs so far. Also, what do you think are the best settings for maximizing a top reliever or two?

There is no effectiveness dropping. He can get tired during the game but only singles on up to 2 rolls out of 36 during that time. No pitcher burns out. It is all about rolls and pitcher settings. Just set him for middle relief, setup and close with a slow hook and don't relieve before F0. Don't set anyone else for anything and HAL will look to him first.
