maybe he tried to stretch it to a double. i had a similar query earlier today in my post "what happened here".

yes he did try to stretch it to a 2B - see the notation 2-h b-o after his single. That translates to runner scores from 2nd, batter out.

I'll have to speak to HAL, old baseball axiom; never make the third out at third.

well in this case he made the 3rd out at 2B or else it would have read DOUBLE b-0
