Rookie Barnstormer Manager. Also, I had never played in a league without a DH. Thought I would try to use a team of all Deadball Era players in a Deadball Era stadium. Tried to emphasize pitching/average/speed (obviously, no power; and I guess with the small gloves, defense must have been optional). Got off to encouraging start (11-7, still the best record within my division). Then proceeded to go 2-16!

Not really sure what happened. Pitching, even at home, has not been very good. Not nearly enough offense. If you need a chuckle, go look at my team (Dubuque Deadheads) for yourself.

Has anyone tried a team with only Deadball Era players before? If so, any luck? Was the idea really as dumb as it now appears? I have just made a few changes to try to improve offense at the expense of pitching. Tough to do in a 20% free agent league. I guess I will find out if the changes help.

Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated.

It's my first year in BS as well. I am under .500 in both leagues so far. I don't think I would have much good advice for you, sorry. But I will tell you that making changes after the season starts is usually going to make your team worse.

I think we will learn a lot this year, and then in 2014 we might be more competitive
