1st game last night.
Garber set as setup & closer.
Worthington setup as behind & late, tied & late, tied & 9th + and TIED AND PLEASE COME IN.

Bottom 8th.
Scherman starts.
Sambito gets 1 guy out in the bottom of the 6th.
Garman comes in, for the bottom of the 7th.
Obviously, set for quick hook/AVOID lefties and max. 1 inning.
Garber AND Worthington eating sunflower seeds in the pen.
Garman pitches to a 1 switchy and then 5 lefties.
5 of 6 roles on his card.

Visick, there isn't any good explanation for that. "Tied and late" must mean 8th inning. It WAS tied and late as of the bottom of the 8th. Your righty specialist should automatically be quick hook and avoid lefties. HAL left him in for 29 pitches, including the last 6 batters against lefties. There's no way to rationalize this. It's an "error" by HAL. Very discouraging. Please email strat and find out what they say about this. Has to be a programming logic error. No way the righty specialist should be left in, in those circumstances.

Garber would normally not have come in as he had pitched in the 2 previous games including 4.1 innings the game before this one. Worthington should have been the next choice and should have come in, I think based on the results that HAL went to look for a replacement and saw #1 choice wasn't available and didn't feel like researching anymore. Are your setting to bullpen aggressive?

I honestly really don't know, but could the "conservative" setting possibly be part of the problem - not that I think it excuses it, because HAL absolutely should have made the change, conservative or not. HAL had a designated pitcher available, he was told to avoid lefties with the RH specialist, and had a tied and late designated reliever ready to go. But I wonder if the "conservative" setting innappropriately caused HAL to wait on pulling the righty specialist?

I rarely use "conservative" for bullpen settings myself. I usually use normal, but I occassionally use "aggressive" when I really badly want to get the starters out and get into my bullpen. Rarely use conservative - almost never - so I don't know if this is the culprit or not - ?

Conservative bullpen is probably the problem here. HAL makes much fewer changes to the bullpen on conservative. Far better is to use aggressive and then use do not remove before F8 for the relievers you want to stay in.

98% of my teams I have my bullpen listed as conservative. Just my way of keeping Hal from making too many stupid moves. Weak starting staff and strong bullpen is the only time I use the normal or aggressive bullpen settings. As far as the blunder that started this post, it was probably because the bullpen was thin and over worked up to that point in Hal's lame opinion.
