Tom, you could make a trade (even an unbalanced one where you give up more keepers for fewer keepers) or use your FA's to get pure relievers. I think the first season will be the toughest to get the kinks out, but with an additional FA per each new season, it should be easier as we go along.

OK, so how many free agents are we allowed to draft - looks like I am going to be 2 "pure" RPs short - so if i can draft at least that many I'll be fine :) ------ Tom.

CHECKED the 1st page - with a 3 round FA draft i should be FINE :)......Tom.

I believe the commissioner called for a three round draft of free agents. I too am short a pure reliever and will need to draft one during the free agent draft (even if only a R or L specialist).

re the free agent draft - 3 rounds -

We still get to "autodraft" 6 players as well, right? Otherwise we wouldn't get to 25 players - right?

So if we are missing a pure reliever, can't we pick him up during the autodraft?

Am I missing something?

My understanding is ...and Paul can confirm...we draft our 22 keepers on here...then we draft our 3 "free agents". That's it.

The autodraft function is a formality since you'll already have selected your team.

Isort of asked a similar question regarding roster compliance and all that and was told that if you're not in compliance, make a trade to make it so (paraphrasing).

I think part of this goes back to the 22 vs. 19 "keeper" requirement for 2007. One school of thought is that 22 is still the figure but that one can go down as low as 19, if and only if, it is the result of unbalanced trade(s) involving keeper players. The other school of thought is that 19 is the new number not 22. I think the commissioner needs to weigh in on this.

It appears that many of us will HAVE to use our "free agent" selections to pick pure relievers to comply.

What is that we need to comply? It's 3 pure relievers or 4? I know you'll need to carry 10 pitchers minimum (after initial draft phase of 11 to get through the autodraft). But I'm not sure what the qualification is for pure relievers.

Re: Keeper number...my understanding is the only way to lose a keeper is in a trade ...or at the end of the year when you can cut a keeper (or two) to get down to the new "keeper number" for that year.
