$60M duke-out FILLED

PostMon May 20, 2013 8:30 pm

I didn't even start this league but it's shaping up to be a doozy. 24 teams, 4 wildcard spots, three playoff rounds, realistic stats, budgets that matter ... one division already signed up. Don't make us wait two weeks here, people.

"You Gotta Earn It" is the league name.

For $60million leagues, any general advice? Things that work better/worse than $80 and $100m leagues?

More platooning, less? More defense/less? 60% hitting/40% pitching? etc

I've only played in one $60M league, so I'm no expert. My working theories for this one are:

- Be very particular about bench and bullpen
- Take some chances to save money
- Assume there will be some small-ball opponents
- Remember there'll be 23 opponents, not 11

I played in one of these in the last days of ATG6. Great fun. My own team was built on OBP and speed.
727 BB and 409 SB. Won 89 games and lost in semis. Spent ,$18.15 on pitching. 799RS, 709 RA, 56 HR , 137 HRA
Best team in regular season won 96 games. $34.07 on pitching(!!??)618 RS, 489 RA.Lost in semis.
The team that lost in the 7th game of finals won 86 games.818RS,821 RA.$16.57m on pitching
The team that won the Championship won 92 games during season. 841 RS,801 RA.Hit 222 HR, allowed 101
playing in Yankee '71.$14.29 on pitching. The first 3 teams mentioned were variations on small ball playing in Grif 24, petco '05
and Forbes 57. So some different philosophies, some creative thinking. I mean, Solly Hemus as DH! You can't get
more creative than that.

I'm in - love 60 mil. You get to use a lot of guys you would never, ever use otherwise. And you have to be "creative". ;)

We're one-third full, 8 of 24.

Keep them coming and if you're in, please don't drop out!

Slow going but the league is 10/24 full -- that's better than Ted Williams hit in 1941. Keep them coming, $60Mers.

12 of 24, we're halfway to paradise. Be patient, everyone, this is critical mass.

15 of 24. By now, I'd think there would be nine people ready to join just so they can shut me up and get this message off the board.

Only 7 to go - I'm calling out all Zappa fans, Frank would have wanted you to join this league.
