Most of you are 70's guys like me who can appreciate this. I just got to spend a couple hours shooting the breeze with John Mayberry and Jerry Terrell at a kids' clinic. Basically the kids would come and go, with lots of down time in between. Working at the park, we are around today's players quite a bit. Sorry to say it, but give me the old-timers any day. We talked about grandkids, weddings, weather, traffic, and techniques for improving our lawns. Everything except baseball. The older guys who played before salaries escalated still have a grasp on what middle class is about. I have to wonder if the multi-millionaires of today will be sitting around swapping stories at kids' clinics in twenty-five years. Perhaps some, but so many seem way out of touch.
I know Bill Mattis deals with a lot of yesterday's players as well. Do you find this to be the case Bill?
And another question, this one for everybody: who will be our draft's Mr. Irrelevant?
