Gap in Bullpen Settings?

PostFri Jun 07, 2013 11:35 pm

I just noticed that situations involving 5-6 run leads are not accounted for by any bullpen role. In game 7 of my semifinals, I had one of these situations come up, and my most terrible filler pitcher was brought in. I narrowly escaped with a win, but has anyone had any experience setting up roles so that somebody better comes in in undefined roles? All help is appreciated.

I found a description somewhere that I think went like this --- if you lead or trail by 5 runs--your mop up reliever is likely to come in--I have lost a few games this way before. I tried this---- have two mop up pitchers with the first one listed being a decent reliever. I agree the should be a leading by 5 or more option in pitching preferences as HAL will bring in your worst pitcher if you have him set as your only mop up. To me the mop up role should be used only when you are losing, but I don't think that's the way it works.

I believe you are right in everything that you've said. Mop up can mean either being ahead or behind by a lot of runs. I have also had bad experiences with a mop up pitcher almost giving away a win. I have also used the strategy of having the first mop up pitcher be a half-way decent pitcher.

I just won my semi game in 7 and can't keep my crappy pitchers out of the game when it matters. Street got hammered but Valdes was left behind while Tolleson and Salas just kept showing up. I am lost in the pitching settings. I had this figured out before but no idea how to set it now.

Can you send me a link to each of 5 consecutive game recaps? (I'm thinking I should be able to look at the play by play as well if I get the recaps). I'll try to make some suggestions. For game 1, can you also tell me who had pitched in the 2 games prior to that, and who had only pitched in just the prior game.

A few other questions:

-Please tell me what settings you use for each of your pitchers on the pitchers' preferences. Don't leave out anything -
F8 or lower ticked, or not, quick hook, slow hook, or not, avoid left, avoid right (or not), and any other settings, plus all of your role settings, in order.

Also, please send me a link to your team page.

Thanks!

I will try to analyze this for you.

Personally, I really have no trouble at all generally with my pitcher bullpen settings, so maybe I can share something with you.

I cant put games or teams in here for some reason. It doesn't copy the address. It never shows the numbers that need to be on the end. I don't know why. Thanks for the offer though. Got a new team starting Monday that should stink up the joint more than Pepe LaPue would. It is a keeper league and I built this team for miles down the road. I will mess with that team and find out how to get things back under control.
