It has effectively neutered next season's free agent draft. the 24 best players will be gone, and by making the order random, some of the best teams will get some of the best upcoming cards. it should be players who have yet to play a major league game, not without cards, so it would be a true prospect, and guess work as to what his minor league numbers really mean, or how soon he might be called up or ready, or POSSIBLY get a card for next season. naturally I say this because my future is particularly crushed by it, randomly getting the 9th position...but without competitive balance, or the teams getting drilled having a chance to improve in the near future, or at least compensated fairly for their futility, the 25 dollar a season investment, now TWICE a year, becomes a waste for the west.
the horse is already out of the barn, but at the very least, the fix should be, "yet to appear in the majors," and get rid of random order.
Why always complain about rules to the last minutes when we voted on that months ago (and everything had been adopted in a legit way If I remember) ? Meat, In the F.A. draft, you had pick #3 and 15 that you traded to Killermarc for JoBat. And you talk about that this prospect draft could crush your future ! That was your decision to get a 32 years old slugger to try to get out of the West but you can't have both: Guys like Machado that hit like JoeBat right away. Like someone said to me, when I proposed to trade my #3 prospect pick for a F.A. pick in the first round, Prospect are like lottery tickets much more than a guy like Machado or Darvish. And like Jay just said, they don't affect game immediately. So, the incidence Is less major with those picks. Us too, that pay 25$, like to draft high sometimes. That was my 2 cents on it.
