Rick,
The issue was that, during the last draft, some people knew we were drafting and still took 2+ days to make their first round pick. Jay pointed out that it was unfair to have some drafts with no clock, and others with 1 hour on the first round.
It certainly is not going to make things last longer than they already do, because we currently have no clock on the first round, so people don't ever have to make their first round pick under the current rules. Those people will be skipped after one day. For everyone else, it will be business as usual. It would make the 3 round supplemental draft a tad longer, but provide consistency in the rules.
It seems the general consensus is to make all the drafts the same, but we couldn't come to a consensus on whether that was to have the 1 hour clock for round 1 as well (like the current supplemental draft rules), or to have a 24 hour clock, or to have no clock (like the current Spring FA and Prospect drafts). I will change those rules, and, since everyone has voted in one form or another, the draft WILL start on Monday, June 17th at 10AM ET, and, barring us coming up with a new rule, it WILL have the 1 hour clock on round 1.
