54...bought the game in 1978 when I was vacationing in the states. Played several seasons in a 5 team face to face league,
then a few more at university. Have been playing several seasons of oldtimers solitaire over the past decade as well as
playing Strat hockey since 1993 in a face to face 8 team league. Love the baseball version best....but prefer playing the
older teams from 1919 black sox to the 1975 reds.

29 here. My first season was the 1993 set. I was 10 and the Jays had just wont their second straight championship. My father introduced it to me and I was hooked. I spent many recess breaks at school drafting teams with friends and playing.

Average age has to be 50 at least...probably closer to 55.

46 here, first big league game was in 1976 with the Big Red Machine. Bench hit a home run, later , Rose walked and ran to first. My dad said "Thats how you play the game, right there". Been around since ATG.

Bought my first board game in 1963. I still have it but it is pretty rough. My brother and I played ALL the time. Had a full league and kept statistics until we went to college. Took a few years off. After I was married I dusted off the old set and played world series, matches. Bought the sets from different eras. My son and I played a world series with 75 Reds and Red Sox, went seven games. Game six, Bernie Carbo hit a two run homerun in eighth inning to tie the game. Red Sox won in ten innings. Game seven Reds won, almost a replica of the real world series, except no Carlton Fisk homerun.

I extrapolated what data I could find on Negro Leaguers, had twenty five cards I personally made. Had many wonderful games against the HOF cards. I called Strat one late afternoon in 1996 to ask some questions, some guy named Hal answered the phone and I eventually told him about my Negro League cards and how much fun we had with them, interesting.

I am 62 and teach PE in Chicago, my son is in the Navy and he has played many games with me. We invited Tinley Snipers, Joe OC over and we had an all day strat tourney right in our dining room. Joe kicked our butts.

I am 49. I started losing online in ATG1.
Early baseball memories include Sheboygan A's games. An old guy was there every night named Joe Hauser. Back in the 20's he was on his way to stardom with the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1924, at age 25 Hauser hit .288 with 27 HR and 115 RBI. Then he broke his leg and struggled to hit big league pitching in parts of 3 other seasons.
But he could still rip minor league pitching.
He was the first player to have 2 seasons with 60+ HRs. (Sosa, McGwire were next)
In 1930 he hit 63 Hr in the International league for the Baltimore Orioles and in 1933 he hit 69 Hr in the American Association for the Minneapolis Millers. Ended up with 399 minor league HR, 8th all time.
His major league stats are .284, 80 HR and 356 RBI
Born in Milwaukee in 1899, Hauser died in Sheboygan in 1997.
My first MLB game was between the Cubs and Pirates June 23, 1972. Jenkins vs. Blass. The key play of the game was with 2 men on with no outs in the 4th, Clemente hit one to left center. Billy Williams probably could have caught it, but was called off by Rick Monday who failed to make the catch and the end result was a 2 run triple. After Stargell tapped out, Al Oliver singled to score Clemente.
Final score, Pirates 4, Cubs 2
I bought Sports illustrated Super Star baseball in the mid 70's and bought my first SOM board game in 1979 at age 15

51. Playing since ATG3. Slowed down a bit with the unfortunately large turnover
since the transition. But since I recently relocated to the Midwest, for the first
time I went to a game with a fellow strat on-line manager who I never met. It was
a Braves-Brewers game (not a fan of either, but being there with a fan, it was fun
seeing the staduim and talking about strat -- although without Braun in the Brewers
lineup, it was a little like seeing a $60 mill cap league or worse).

One topic is how the personality of the community has taken a large hit. Bernie, love
him or hate him, is essentially gone from the boards, Garcia, who does communicate is
more of a professional than a personality, and all those community members that got
quiet or quit. And the lack of the LIVE drafts, which had the Chat feature -- got more
discussion during one draft than some leagues have over the entire season.

Anyway, there seems to be a new crop of players slowly discovering the on-line game along
with some of us who keep playing. This thread is a nice touch. Shows there is still some
life and character in the community.

I'm 67. First MLB memory is watching Al Kaline as a kid at Briggs Stadium. Started playing APBA in the late 1950's and did not discover Strat online until about 4 years ago. I play in a lot of 200x keeper leagues and just recently started on the learning curve of how to survive in ATG leagues.

49.....been playing ATG online since 2002. Never played the board game(my loss). First MLB game(s) attended.....well, it went something like this: 1977, upon returning from vacation at my grandparents place in northern Wisconsin, we stopped for 4 days to visit more relatives in Milwaukee/Chicago. Turned out to have great timing(unintentionally) as we caught 3 consecutive games with visitors that would go on to win 96, 97 & 98 games.

August 16 - Elvis checked out.

August 17 - County Stadium.....Brewers 5-3 over the Red Sox (Yaz went yard)

August 18 - Wrigley Field.....Pirates 7-6 over Cubs. A bittersweet game for me: Pirates were my favorite team as a kid, but my boyhood hero (Willie Stargell), sat that one out. Parker & Oliver went yard.

August 19 - Wrigley Field.....Cubs 6-2 over the Dodgers. Bill Buckner torched the team that traded him away in the off-season, going 4-5 with 2 homers and 5 RBI.
