it seems like every month i am doing this thread.....so post em, i want to see the volume of bs playoff results in this game because even now i am skeptical on its legitimacy, a board game player since the 80s, computer player since the 90s......

this is just getting ridiculous, i wish i had the time to go through and paste all of the examples i am talking about, but here is the latest playoff bull s$& result

100 wins, 94 wins......lose to 89 and 87 win teams in the worst divisions i have ever seen. one was -132 in run dif the other -94.

and oh yeah i was up 3-0 game 7, gave up 1 in the 7, 1 in the 8, 2 in the 9th.....like it was part of some computer program

this after consecutive weeks of being up 3-1 in the finals in different leagues, and yep you guessed it, lost both finals. a month after my 113 win team from the 80s set got swept first round and oh yeah cant forget about the ATG 7 140 mil team that went 106-56 a few weeks ago, 4- 20 game winners, sub 4 team era, scored 1100 runs......playoffs, lose 63-12 in 4 games....????

I am a new online player. Had a team just make playoffs on my 2nd try and I will post the results when games played--If my team wins it will make you even more upset--it's really a marginal team at best.

you will win. you want to win the ws in strat, make sure you have a mediocre team that wins between 86-89 games.

mastermosser14 - I am sympathetic to the disappointment and frustration you are feeling.

Recently, I was on the other end of a situation like yours, where I had the "underdog" team, but won a best of 7 series in 5 games against a team with a much better record. This was in a league full of veteran players. Understandably, the veteran with the superior team that lost was quite upset.

The bottom line is that in strat-o-matic baseball (and I will also say, IMO, in real life baseball), just about anything can happen in a few games, and in a best of 7 series. Sometimes it's just a wild result, and both winner and loser will say, "Wow. I just can't believe that happened that way!".

I have heard many veterans say that getting INTO the playoffs requires a lot of skill from a manager, but what happens in the playoffs is a bit of a "roll of the dice".

I have played thousands of games with the board, card and dice, since 1971, mostly with my brother. IMO, the wild uncertainty (combined with long-term statistical accuracy) is what makes this game absolutely amazingly good.

It just sucks when you're on the losing end when you shouldn't be, based on statistical probabilities.

yeah it is "the way it goes", but damn if that "way it goes" happens faaaaaaar more times than a regular result....the best team not winning all the time is fine, the up 3-1 lose series really really frustrates me, and the plus 100 win teams facing statistically inferior opponents never having a chance to move on really really reaally frustrates me

i know its "short series sample" but come on, i literally pray my teams dont win more than 90 games, i have probably 35 ws rings over the years, i can count on one hand how many came with 90 plus win teams

I have not had that many 100 win teams since I started playing this but I do remember very well that none of them ever won the league title. Maybe if my next team gets to 99 wins I will try everything not to win number 100 lol

Been on both sides so I can't complain. Here am 83 win team knocked off a 100 win team. However, my high priced rotation was lights out in the final.

I have likewise seen both sides of the coin, but more often I have seen my teams who have had the best record lose to teams with middle of the road record for playoff teams. I have my 81 win team win the championship to my surprise, against a veteran player with 103 wins with a sweep.

At a job I had once my boss told me that you can do 100 things right and your customers would only remember the one thing you did wrong. It set in when he offered me a red vine and I told him the last time I had one it broke a crown. That was when it hit me and the things that go wrong stay with you and when you are the 81 game winner it doesn't .
