Best pinch Hitters

PostFri Jun 21, 2013 5:46 pm

Who are the best pinch hitters vs LHP and vs RHP?

Since Salary cap makes a huge difference, I'm only interested for each of the lower caps - $60M, $80M and $100M.

I've used the 9R O'Doul with little success. Had better success with Bob Thurman in $60 and $80 leagues - low avg, low OBP, but high SLG. Usually a HR every 9-10 ABs. Who else?

Depends on how much you want to spend on the pinch hitter and what type of park your in.

If your looking at keeping them under 1 million I love the .93 Piniella Vs. lefties.

I would second the previous advice, but in general, for solid hitting for average (not so much for power) Gene Clines is effective against lefties; the Alou brothers, Mateo (vs. rhp) and Jesus (vs lhp), are also good choices. Steve Sax is good vs. lefties and has some speed. Dick Groat at either his .52 or .53 card is a good, slightly cheaper alternative.

For power I've had some luck with Danny Cater against southpaws; he's also eligible at a bunch of positions albeit with a rather stone-like glove at each.

Barry Bonds is the best pinch hitter. Draws lots of walks and hits the occasional long ball.

I'm mostly interested in hitters under $1M, but with lower caps under $.6M is better. Sinatro's been good in limited ABs.

I like Tommie Davis for 52 cents. He's an injury waiting to happen, but he's always good for a few pinch triples -- nice to have in the ninth inning.

I used to platoon "Daddy Wags" in 60M leagues with great success.
