I bought a 5 pack at the beginning of May 2012. I scored three free teams from that pack winning a championship and placing second. One of those three teams won a championship giving me two more free teams. One of those two teams placed second giving me another free team. That free team also finished second so I got another free team. That was the end of my success. That 5 pack I bought in May lasted until February of this year. I won 7 free teams in total. Not a bad haul if you ask me. :D

My most recent 5 pack resulted in 1 championship. Those 2 teams are currently battling for a playoff spot so we'll see if those credit teams lead to anything.

It's all about timing or luck. Call it what you want.
Clark walks, Frisch singles and Bonds rolls a 4-6 and strikes out.
2 innings later, with the bases empty, Bonds rolls 1-6 for a HR

OR
Clark walks, Frisch singles, Bonds rolls a 1-6 for a HR
2 innings later Bonds rolls a 4-6 and strikes out

Same results, same # of base runners and hitters.
But because the magical roll happened in different places, 1 team has 1 run after 3 innings, the other has 3 runs after 3 innings.

I just won a finals series. I was a divisional winner, I played against the wild card team. My home park was griffin, his was Fulton.
Here is the strange or unlucky part for my opponent.
I hit 6 HRs in the 5 games. Shoeless Joe hit 2, Goslin hit 2, Nellie Fox hit 1 and Fats Jenkins hit 1. During the regular season I hit 68 homeruns in 162 games.
My opponent had Ruth, Foxx, Banks, Schmidt, Gant, Cedeno and Billy Williams. He hit ZERO homeruns in the 5 games. During the regular season, he hit 321 homeruns.
That was bad luck. But is it, look at this

Foxx is up, roll 2-6 for a single
Billy Williams is up, roll 3-6 for a double play
OR
Foxx is up, roll 3-6 for a HR
Billy Williams is up, roll 2-6 for a HR
Same dice rolls, HUGE different result

It is a game of chance

I've won a title with a 108-54 record and won a title with an 82-80 record.

Ask the 1987 Minnesota Twins (85-77) or 2006 St. Louis Cardinals (83-79) if they will be turning in their World Series trophies anytime soon.... ;)

I won a title once with a team that did the following.

On the last night of season, get swept by the 3rd place team, finish in a 3 way tie for first, somehow win the tiebreaker. Then go on and win the two playoff series, but get out scored and out hit in both. With giving an honest opinion, all the playoff teams are better than mine, and one of the teams I tied with is at least as good as my team. It was a 100M ATG3 team in the wayback machine, but hey I'm not giving the ring back by any means.

Sh T happens, as my brother ( a strat player from the 60's... and still going strong) would say "if its on the card, he's gonna roll it and he's gonna get it."

I lost a deciding playoff series, (face to face league) with a 3 run lead, 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, a grand slam to Barry Larkin on a 2-8, HR 1 roll flyball cf B 2-20 the rest

nice way to go down.. but I'm sure everyone has these horror stories to tell...

My two face to face championships were quite unexpected-the first came with a team that started 0-7 in a 54 game season and came back to finish first on the last day of the season (10 team league), then won the title with two 4 game sweeps. The second came with a team that was below .500 at the half way point, came back to finish second, then won it all in extra innings after Ken Griffey Jr. tied it with a HR with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. My face to face teams are very similar to the computer team I have now, which is 41-82. How different the super advanced computer leagues are from face to face advanced leagues!

the 100 win CURSE! I've had a wildcard team go 7-0 in the playoffs but have yet to have a 100 win club win it all.

I've had powerhouse teams dominate the playoffs and also 103 win teams lose in the semis. I won one league with a 80-82 record. Also in my head to head league, the team that won it all squeaked into the last playoff spot with a 54-54 record(we only played 108). It's just who gets lucky in a short seven game series. I don't believe there is anything fishy going on BUT if it were, wouldn't the perfect candidate for it to happen to be the guy that created at least 14 profiles so he can get one over on Strat and take advantage of them? I'm sure Strat is exercising better sportsmanship than mastermosser89 or whatever the current number is.

I guess that short series luck is not on my side right now. I'm now on a fifteen game losing streak in the playoffs. My 96 win team was up three games to one and then lost three to lose the semis. Then my next three teams (87,92 and 102 wins)all got swept in the semis for 15 straight.
