Team needs some help...

PostMon Jul 01, 2013 2:30 pm

I am thinking of making a couple changes and using some "high" injury chance players..."3" or "4" to bolster my offense. My question is how many games in general will these type players miss through-out the season? Is it really worth it to use these type of players?

Thanks,
Dale

Longoria will miss about 150 games a season.

This may not be too helpful for this team, but it is hard to switch strategies and make a lot of roster moves mid season and be successful. If you were starting from the beginning, I like getting a few injury prone guys and decent backups because it tends to be a good value. At this point, I would roll with what you have, there is still a lot of season left and anything can happen.

Here are percentage of games missed (these are my calculations, Clowntimeisover actually has this down to a science, but these are close enough for ballpark)
1 injury rating (less than 600 PA guys) 7% (misses about 11-12 games on average)
2 13.3 %
3 20%
4 25%
5 28.7%
6 32%

So you could expect Longoria to miss about 46 games on average

There was a post in april about high injuries players--good info there if you go up enough pages to find it---I was asking about Longoria--and if odds fall around 4 games per injury--you can expect around 112-118 games from him---I have had good luck with Ortiz and Longoria, and they produce when in, but I can't keep the others I've tried healthy at all (Kemp, Morse, Gutierrez and Dirks)--1st & 3rd easier to cover also.

You can get into the playoffs with high injury but you can bet they will get hurt there.

I had a poor offense & dropped Moustakas & another player for Longoria--I went from a -50run differential to even in about 70 games--so its a crap shoot, but worth it if you know your offense is too weak as it is.

Look at your OF to start. You have $9.66MIL slanted heavy left and you don't even see LH pitching. :o . I see that you just picked up Kemp I think. You just added him with Gomes (4 range) and added to the fire. Your team needs hitters that hit RHP and you don't have it with those guys.
You are in a hitters park against RHP with most of your cash spent on RH hitting. I always look at who is in my division and try and put a team together to beat them. Your team has more HR's than the teams you play and you are only 2 games under .500. A left handed power hitter would have done the trick for you.
Did you try and trade any of the players you dropped. It is hard to trade for LH power as everyone holds on to them for a reason.
You might look to trade Kemp to a team that sees more LHP than you do.

I see you traded Cano and he is tearing the cover off the ball for CAD. That was probably a big mistake as I said you are only 2 games under.
