Switch hitter Q

PostSun Jul 28, 2013 6:39 pm

As I understand it, a switch-hitter must bat left-handed against right-handed pitchers and right-handed against left-handed pitchers.

So does that mean I should reverse the Balance rating of a player when drafting?

For example, Red Schoendist (4.27m) is rated a 4R but is a switch-hitter. So wouldn't he use the 4R side of his card only against lefties?

Am I misinterpreting this rule?

Thanks.

4R just shows his overall card will perform better against RHP than LHP. Im not sure I understand your question.

Thanks for helping me try to understand this.

Perhaps if I continue my example: if Schoendist faces a right handed pitcher, will the "versus righty pitchers" section of his card come into play; or would the "versus lefty pitchers" section of his card come into play since he's batting left-handed?

I guess, which take priority? The handedness of the pitcher or the side of the plate the batter is on?

Does that make sense?

Schoendienst is facing Greg Maddux: any rolls on Maddux's card would be vs LHBatter, and any rolls on Schoendient's card would be vs RHPitcher

Schoendienst is facing Whitey Ford: any rolls on Ford's card would be vs RHBatter, and any rolls on Schoendienst's card would be vs LHPitcher
