ATG team
I used + clutch guys who were also 1's. 15 clutch opportunities resulted in hits.

which is .0086% of your hits....

again, don't worry about clutch

U might be correct, BUT suppose those hits won a few games for me?

I was wondering just how important clutch is in constructing a team. Is it something that should be seriously considered?

I think this has been debated periodically since the beginning of online strat and probably before by board game players.

All I can say with certainty after reading dozens of debates on the boards. People who play a lot more than me, understand this thing better than me, and win a lot more than me have stated ..... some say it matters and some say it doesn't.

Have read that Hal is more likely to intentionally walk your slugger if a negative clutch guy is up next regardless of how good he is and vice versa.

And worth noting that I assume Strat takes negative clutch on a card in to account when it makes out a card. And I would expect in order to keep the BA up on a negative clutch guy who will lose a few hits to clutch situations Strato would put in an appropriate number of extra singles on a card. But who really knows?

Maybe it is irrational, but I still have a problem choosing cards with negative clutch chances. It's not just losing hits-it's losing at least 1 run.

Well so far I am 4-5. I have gotten 3 clutch hits with no outs...not sure what that means in the big picture.....

A clutch opportunity is often the difference between winning and losing. I try to have at least one clutch guy who will fit in the five hole, but like most of the guys say, it is not a huge deal. I just think it is kind of silly because it is taken from such a small sample size. And as mentioned before it is meant as an RBI number total adjuster for "As Played" team replays. I turn off the clutch option when playing the CD-ROM, it would be a nice bonus if they gave each league that option here. But I am not going to stop playing over such a minor detail.

I means your team would be batting .282 instead of .284....

I think I have my answer...not really worth the effort to worry about it I think.

Old topic here, but I just finished this 2008 team with a pretty high number of clutch guys: Billy Butler, Pablo Sandoval, Blake DeWitt, Juan Uribe, and Steve Pearce. All those were key guys on a team which won 100 games. Total number of clutch hits: a whopping 2.

Checking in on the clutch experiment team above shows a pretty dismal outcome (although that team does have some real problems). I'm still firmly in the "turn it off for the online game" camp.

Aren't those guys platoon guys?
That would explain the low hits.

I go back to my team, (link on previous page).
All + clutch.

15 for 15 in clutch opportunities.

It's probably unrealistic in the 20xx games to have an all + clutch team. That's competitive.
