getowtamypot/TheJerkStore Passing

PostMon Jul 29, 2013 1:18 pm

For those of you who knew Derek here, I want to let you know that he passed away on June 12th. He was 42......way too young. I wish I had some great words of comfort for his family. I wish I had words of wisdom for you.

He has been a member of the ongoing keeper league "House of Glanny" for 15+ seasons. I will miss his posts in that league as we proceed with our 24th season. I will miss the competion and the fun we shared here. You could always count on Derek for a good laugh no matter how things were going. We will all miss him. More later.

Rick,
Thanks for letting us all know.
This is certainly sad news. He will be missed.

That's tragic. I worked with Derek when Bobby Moretti (b.o.b.b.y.) set up his tournaments and manager profiles. Derek was a good guy and very helpful.

Well said, Rick. You're right, he had a knack for injecting humor at the right times. I'll miss his sense of humor and the ongoing references we had to some of our favorite TV shows. Derek was a great competitor who enjoyed the camaraderie as much as the wins. We lost a good one too soon. He'll be missed.

Sorry for your loss. We were in the process of selecting keepers for the next season. The league commissioner received the information from Derek's dad responding to either an e-mail or a facebook inquiry as to Derek's keepers.

Oh jeez. That's so sad. He was way too young to go. My condolences to his family and friends. And he was a fellow Kansas City born guy, like me. The capriciousness of life slaps us all upside the head quite frequently, just to remind us that we are all only "visiting" here for a little while.
