You spoke too soon. :)

Going back to rosters of old, I'm betting the the dice odds favor one or two of my high injury players. If the rolls smile on Werth or Jay, then my NLD 34 team might be in the Midwest or West division.

I'm challenged to find a solid high injury utility infielder so DJ will need to do here.

Still a tame number of moves by Semper Standards. ;)

But, hey, maybe you're happier with your draft this time around. $100 mil leagues make it easier to take a chance on injury players for sure.

Well, now that we're underway, any thoughts on your team or others teams?

I'm not sure how to get a read on the East. The draft started of with the other 3 teams going heavy on pitching. I tried to stay hitting as long as I could and get at least a couple of good SP. I have the weakest overall pitching but if I can funnel innings to Fien/Street I should be able to stay in games. As DJ pointed out to our division - the top 7 SP and top 9 of 13 are in our division.

Through the first 1/3 of the draft I thought lefty starters could do well and Big & Semper drafted good lefty SP early. Then Big & DJ loaded up on some lefty killer bats so I don't know how well that's going to work out. Semper still looks susceptible to lefty starters but I went Gee instead of Moore at the end because of Big/DJ.

I've had more success this season with offense oriented teams so I was glad to get the offensive oriented park but DJ is pretty close.

My quick take,

Big - Good pitching but lefties could be in trouble. Offensively fairly balanced but bottom half of lineup lacking in OB & TB. Strong arms in OF & C should control running game.

DJ - Great pitching. Only one lefty on the staff (RP) so that may hurt in late inning situations. Offensively has the most natural home run rolls in the division but lack of team OB may turn those into solo HR's.

Semper - Ballpark will protect lefty SP some but they could have some issues. Weakest offense in the division by far but has good OB vs R. Very weak vs L.

Stoney - Pitching is OK but worst in the division. Offense is balanced with good OB & TB and speed throughout. Could get hurt with bad injury rolls.

Stoney's picks,

Stoney - biased but I think the balanced offense in a hitters park gives me an edge.
DJ - close 2nd depending on how many baserunners in front of those HR's
Big - top 2 SP will keep him in a lot of games
Semper - just don't see the offense to be a contender.

That's my take. We'll see if I know anything at all.

Stoney,

Thanks for the good analysis. I will endeavor to get all the teams loaded into my spreadsheet soon so I can compare notes.

But, for now...DRUM ROLL PLEASE 8-)

NLD History Review!!!!

Sorry this took so long. I had it done long ago, just never got to post it and then forgot I hadn't posted it!

Of note in NLD 32:

JTJ/Wineman finally makes the playoffs after a three year :!:  hiatus. He also had the best record for the fourth time (third best)

GB is the third player to win back-to-back (AT, JTJ) and the first to do it in his first two seasons.

JTJ closed the gap on Big M in terms of overall best win pct, but remains 1% behind.

Jeep Failed to make the POs after making three in a row. He has made the playoffs in exactly half of his 22 attempts. Second behind Silver.

The Third best record in the league wins for the second time in a row and now has won 8 times, tied with the best record. Second best record has 11 Champs.

It was a fairly close NLD in terms of differential from top to bottom (20 wins) and Std Deviation (6.7). 72 wins by Hawk is one of the highest lows.

After a long drought, Big A has now made 2 of 3 Playoffs.

Korkie/Corky sets a record for longest absence between NLD seasons. Corky's last NLD before NLD32 was NLD12!!!

I really enjoyed reading the previous 2 posts....reminded me of the old NLD....and was it really NLD 12 Joe? Wow! Hopefully someone will break down the other 2 divisions like Stoney did, I don't have the time right now.

Look forward to Joe's ratings when he gets a chance as well.

I think the East will be interesting, and I think my squad will compete for the division crown. Agree with Stoney that the bottom of my order is a bit thin, but so was the 1970 Orioles'.

And Corky, nice to see you in my division for Barnstormers event 5. 8-)
