This is an emotional reaction on my part, maybe not a logical one. But I do enjoy the 80's game because the entire pool is structured for an 80 million dollar cap, meaning any card can be used in any game. If you play the other mystery sets at 80m, there are just some cards you can't afford to use, whether it's $11+ million Joe Morgan or a lefty-smashing RH-hitter like Mike Ivie at $5+ million. (Yes, there are over-priced cards in 80's, like Eric King or Eric Plunk, but at least they're scaled to an 80m cap and can conceivably be used.)

I guess I'm just an 80's kinda guy, but I'm looking forward to the 60's set and I hope to see you there many times, Scorehouse!

Well I would bet the 60s game will have players priced more like the 90s game than the old 80s game.

Agreed. The 80's game has become a bit old-school.

I was afraid that the player pool for the 60s would be sort of low: there just weren't as many teams in the 60s.

Nothing wrong with that. BTT80's remains the best game despite the smaller pool. You get to know the cards better, almost all the cards get tried each season. It's gonna be all right!

I will agree with what you say... to a degree. Personally I think that the player pool size in the 70s is the best of the 3, although I enjoy playing the 80s just as much as the 70s, if not more. There are some seriously thin positions in the 80s, primarily middle infielders and catcher. I am still very much looking forward to the 60s, I was just pointing out that the player pool is on the low side comparatively. Maybe "afraid" wasn't the best word for me to use.

I suggested months ago to have a MYSTERY 50/60 game with about 1200 cards...I won't play the 60's game cuz the player pool is too small...I'm very dissapointed that John didn't listen to us and do a 50/60 game with double the card pool

You say "us" like it is the entire community. No mystery card game has anywhere near 1200 players. That is way too large in my opinion. Everyone has different likes. I'm just glad we were given a new mystery card game of any kind. My first team drafted last night and there are still lots of good players on the FA list.

The player pool is virtually identical to the 80s game but the difference is the player's salaries. In the 60s all the good players won't be scooped up in the AD because 12 teams can't afford them all so that makes the player pool play larger in comparison.

I've never been a fan of the mystery card concept, but I try to give each new game a whirl, so I dove into a 100M DH 60s league. I don't mind the smaller set for a new experience.

Question -- would any of the mystery card veterans be willing to give me a quick refresher course on the subtleties of the mystery card game, either here or via PM? Thanks.
