Chipper Jones went 7 for 7 with a stolen base on the road in a 9 inning game and cap at $140 mil. All seven hits were singles and 5 were off the pitcher's card, with 4 of those 5 being "ballpark singles" in Royals Stadium '80.

Despite his heroic offensive efforts efforts, poor Chipper couldn't even get a headline mention, and wasn't even mentioned in the game recap paragraph, which focused on Joe Morgan, who went 3 for 4 with a HR, 3 runs scored and a mere 6 RBI.

Geez, what's a guy gotta do to get a little recognition?

I know the single game record is listed at 8 hits for Arky Vaughan, but the link to the game doesn't work, it was probably at a $100 mil or less cap and likely in extra innings.

I doubt that anyone has ever gone 7 for 7 in a 9 inning game at the $140 mil cap.

Here's hoping Chipper gets his due with a mention in the record books.

Posting is up to date in the ATGV/VI/VII games.

As many of you mention, a great deal of the links in the records don't work. This is because the record pre dates the switchover from the TSN site to the SOM site. If you're new here, Strat-O-Matic didn't always host the online game, it started from The Sporting News and was ported over to the SOM site.

TSN doesn't allow the bandwidth or electricity of having their web servers up and online anymore to serve out those pages. I've always been hopeful that SOM would find a way to make those links work again but I know that this would not be a high priority on their list, so I don't waste a lot of time pushing for it.

Should those links and those records be removed and only valid working links remain ? I don't know, I think it would devastate the records section and would cheapen our experience. The record WAS ACHIEVED at some point in time and someone went to the trouble to post it, and I verified it.

Just thought for those of you that read this and note that a lot of records don't work, the reason why.

Special bulletin !!!

SOM has fixed the links for everything except for the links to individual box scores.

So Batting and Pitching records and 80 and 100 mil Team records should all now be correctly linked. The Single Game and Big Game records will NOT get linked, as those items were not kept and ported over to SOM. I may be gradually thinning out the BOTTOM of those records. But for now, a big thank you for getting our links working !!
