60s 1½ Team Theme league preseason

As a minor cleanup to the player list, Dave May should not be available to Mil-Atl. He played on the Brewers.

Here's the problem, the current plan leaves too much discretion in the hands of the commissioner. So, if it is me that is a player short, then the penalty will be really high, but it is somebody else, the commish will just award them a decent player. I remember I was once in a 69 theme league and there were 2 stadiums left in the final round and I could pick either one, but because the player picking after me could only pick one of the stadiums, I was forced into a stadium that didn't suit my team. Now, in that case, there was nothing in the rules to stop me from picking my preferred stadium, but I was forced to do it so the league format would be maintained. Another time, we were drafting players in the second round and I wasn't picking that promptly, but a lot of other owners were taking a long time and everyody got their turn; but not me, noooo, the next owner skipped over me and picked Willie Stargell, and I jumped back in but the best player available was Mike Hegan. So, there was some arbitrary ambiguity in the rules and I ended up with Mike Hegan instead of Stargell. Mike Hegan! So, basically, that's the problem, everyone is out to get me and in the end I wind up drafting Mike Hegan.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step! I hope I didn't stick you with Hegan....

franky, I can assure you that I am not out to get you or anyone else. I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE each owner to get to a legal roster on their own through trading or team selection. It will not be to anyone's advantage if the commish has to fix your roster for you.

I am sure that trading is not allowed until after the final 1/2 team pick, but just to get the juices flowing. The Tigers have an exceptional amount of exclusive talent to be had (all 5 years carded to Detroit), including:
Why run the risk of 2nd and 3rd tier players in the AD, lock up some great talent NOW (I mean when the commish says GO to trading)!

franky is correct on this. SOM's player spreadsheet is in error with the 1970 Dave May card. That card should be for the Brewers and Brewer's players are not in play for this league. Dave May has two cards for BAL and 3 for the Brewers so he is the sole property of Baltimore. Atlanta may not use him unless they trade for him from the Orioles.

I was just assuming that if my player didn't have all 5 years on the Excel Spreadsheet that he was "at Risk"...now with the Brewers info, you're saying a guy could have 3 with a team and 2 others with a "not at play" team? is there any way I could get a list of which players are COMPLETELY owned by one team?

If I had seen Dave May only had 2 cards for Bal, I would not have thought he was SOLE PROPERTY of Balt. I highlighted all those players prior to the draft. I know it's too late to change my pick, don't want to, but I'd like to know who the others are that have less than all 5 cards with a team, YET are still SOLE PROPERTY of a given team.

I'd do the research, but initial post said it has/had been done for us.....

Yes there are a few players carded to teams not in play such as the Brewers, Pilots, Royals, Expos & Padres (I think that is all). Also after the two round draft is complete there will be 4 half teams not in play as well. You will need to do the research on your own to determine which players you want to put on your AD card.
